    The leadership shift required

Leadership looks different in every life stage. In the start-up stage, leaders build. In the growth stage, leaders expand. In the maturity stage, leaders steward.

This means the leadership approach that helped build the ministry may no longer be the approach that will sustain it.

    Instead of...

    Mature leaders increasingly…

Building everything yourselfEquip others to lead
Solving every problemCoach others to solve problems
    Holding authority tightlyShare responsibility wisely
Driving every decisionStrengthen governance and collaboration
Focusing mainly on short-term resultsBuild long-term organisational health

One of the clearest signs of leadership maturity is not how indispensable the leader becomes, but how many other people they empower to flourish.

    Jesus’ example: Servant leadership

Jesus demonstrated this when He washed His disciples’ feet. The King of Kings chose the role of a servant. True leadership is not about status, power or recognition. It is about serving others so they can fulfil God’s purposes. Jesus eventually entrusted His disciples with the mission He had spent years preparing them for.

He didn’t simply leave behind an organisation. He left behind equipped leaders.
