Identify your organisation’s promise and benefits

Use the prompts in the activity to create a promise statement and identify benefits of your organisation.

What’s your organisation’s promise?

Write down your organisation’s vision and/or mission statement.

Write down your target audience that you identified in the last section.

Write down how your target audience experiences the mission/vision of your organisation. What do they receive from your organisation? *

Write one concise statement starting with “You get…” followed by a summary of what your audience receives from your organisation. *

Look at your statement and evaluate if your organisation offers your audience anything not included in that promise. Now evaluate if you can make that statement any more specific without excluding anything you offer. Refine your statement accordingly. You’ve got your promise statement! *

What are the benefits of your organisation?

Write down any functional or physical needs that your audience has that are being met by your organisation. It can be helpful to review your persona to identify these needs. *

For each of those needs, write a specific way your organisation is meeting it. *

Write down any emotional needs that your audience has that are being met by your organisation. Be sure to review your persona to help with this. *

For each of those needs, write a specific way your organisation is meeting it. *

Now review the lists of ways your organisation is meeting your audience’s needs and see if you can identify the top 1-3 on each list that are most valuable to your audience.

Can you consolidate these lists to 1-2 benefits for each? Or, if you have no functional benefits or no emotional benefits, identify 2-3 needs in one of the categories. *

Evaluate if there are any needs your audience has that your organisation meets that are not listed. If so, go back and see where they fit, or if they can be encompassed by another benefit. Once you feel confident in these lists, you’ve identified the benefits of your organisation!
