The eternal fellowship of the Triune God

In the opening verse of his Gospel, John shows us that the Word is the eternal Son of God, who was with God and was God, existing from eternity with no beginning or end.
God did not “become” in the beginning; He simply was, possessing absolute existence from everlasting to everlasting.
John helps us understand that before creation, God was not inactive but eternally busy in perfect fellowship within the triune Godhead.
The word “with” in John 1:1 means “toward” or “face to face,” showing intimate, loving, self-giving communion between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
For all eternity, the triune God existed in joyful, loving fellowship, giving and receiving life within Himself, because God is love and God is fellowship.
God created humanity in His image so that we could experience this same self-giving love and fellowship with Him.
Though sin broke that fellowship, Jesus came to restore it, and eternal life now means knowing God and enjoying this restored fellowship, which becomes the source of our Christian life and leadership.
