Alignment means three things:

• The people understand the vision – so they know where to go.
• The people own the vision – so they want to go.
• The people trust the leader – so they’re willing to follow the leader.

Effective communication has three characteristics:

• Clarity – so the people understand the vision.
• Passion – so the people own the vision.
• Credibility – so the people trust the leader.

Alignment is built through:

• The leader’s prayer and dependence on God.
• The leader’s relationships with the people.
• The leader’s empowerment of the people.
• The leader’s words.
