    Focus on what matters most

At start-up, there can be a temptation to chase every opportunity. A new partnership appears. Someone suggests a new programme. A potential funder asks for something. A new need becomes visible. The challenge is deciding what belongs to your mission now.

Priorities that help establish strong foundations

    Priority

    Why it matters

Clarify the missionPeople need to understand what the ministry exists to do.
Test and refine programmesEarly experimentation helps you learn what is genuinely effective.
Build relationshipsTrust and shared ownership create a stronger foundation than activity alone.
Steward resourcesLimited resources need to be directed towards what matters most.
Establish simple systemsSimple systems prevent avoidable confusion as activity increases.
Build healthy cultureWhat values do we want to define our ministry?

Do not confuse activity with progress

A busy ministry is not necessarily a healthy ministry.

    Ask:

Are we doing more, or are we becoming more effective at what we are called to do?

Jesus Himself demonstrated the importance of healthy rhythms.

Luke 5:15–16 describes how crowds increasingly gathered around Him, yet Jesus withdrew to places where He could pray.

The demands of ministry did not eliminate His need for time with the Father.
