    Build the foundation

A healthy ministry needs more than enthusiasm.

It needs foundations that can support future growth.

    Consider these five foundations.

    Foundation

    What it means

    Ask yourself

    Vision

Knowing what God has called the ministry to do.

What must remain central, even as things change?

    Faith

Moving forward while recognising that outcomes are not completely within our control.

Where do we need to trust God while still planning responsibly?

    Relationships

Building trust, ownership and connection between people.

Who needs to feel heard, valued and involved?

    Innovation

Being willing to test, learn and adapt.

What could we try rather than simply discussing?

    Flexibility

Responding to changing circumstances without losing the purpose.

What can change without compromising our mission?

A ministry can have a strong vision and still have weak foundations.

For example, a leader may know exactly what they want the ministry to achieve, but if every decision depends on that leader, the organisation may struggle to grow.

Likewise, a ministry may be highly innovative but lose focus because it keeps changing direction.

Healthy foundations allow a ministry to remain faithful and adaptable at the same time.

    Jesus: compassion and stewardship

When Jesus fed the five thousand, He responded to an immediate human need.

But the story also demonstrates organisation and stewardship.

Jesus involved His disciples. He asked them to assess the situation, organise the crowd and distribute what was available.

The disciples were not simply observers.

They were being developed through participation.
