    Course summary

Well done on completing this course. Here is a summary of the key ideas from the course. We encourage you to discuss what you have learnt with your team.

“When we name our intention, we clarify our thinking and sharpen our focus.”

    Writing your impact statement:

The formula usually goes like this: As a result of (our program), (these people) experience (this change in their lives).

In an impact statement, we typically leave off the “as a result of our program” part, even though it helps to use it implicitly as you think or silently as you say these statements.

    Writing your indicators:

We will get data on the outside-triangle indicators through quantitative means. We will get data on the inside-triangle indicators through qualitative means.

    Principles of change:

A theory of change is an if/then proposition. If we do this, then this….

To identify your principles of change, think about these two questions:
    1. Why do you do the things you do in the way you do them?
    2. What about your program is responsible for the change you wish to see?

    Leaders guide questions:

As you get clear on your intention,

    • What has become clear to regarding your impact?
    • What is still unclear to you as you write your impact statement?
    • What has become clear to you as you define your indicators?
    • What dimensions of the heart triangle is still unclear to you?
    • What has become clear in defining the change you wish to see?
    • What clarity do you still need in identifying your principles of change?
