The first faint signs of a ministry board

In this activity, we will look at the text from Acts 15, which describes the Council of Jerusalem. Of course, it is not a board meeting in the contemporary sense, but in many respects, it mirrors something very similar. It displays many of the principles we would hope to see in a meeting of directors (trustees) for a ministry organisation in today’s world.

Carefully read through the passage and list your observations about the meeting.

    • How effective were the communication and decision making in this very important meeting?
    • What made them effective or ineffective?
    • How was the meeting organised?
    • Was there evidence of a thoughtful process?
    • How was the decision actually made?
    • Is there evidence of a facilitator or meeting leader?
