The 5C’s

A long list of leadership qualities is inspiring but impractical; we need a simpler, focused model to define healthy Christian leadership.
Psalm 78:70–72 reveals three core leadership capacities: calling (vision), character (upright heart), and competencies (skillful leadership).
These three work like a three-legged stool—if any one is missing, leadership breaks down, with weak character being the most destructive.
Jesus’ two greatest commandments add two more essential elements: Christ (loving God fully) and community(loving others).
Together, these form the five seeds of healthy Christian leadership: Christ, community, character, calling, and competencies.
Christ comes first, community second, character is formed within them, calling flows from character, and competencies are needed to fulfil the call—everything in a leader’s life fits into this 5C model.
