    Planning: the path ahead

    Changing Your Organisation’s Culture

Culture is difficult to change. Think of how deep ethnic culture runs – it takes entire generations to make significant change!

You cannot simply mandate a deep change of either ethnic culture or organisational culture.

Cultural change requires people to change the way they think and act. It is hard for people to unlearn their old ways – especially when many of the cultural norms are unspoken in the first place.

It will take courage, clarity, honesty and persistence to change an unhealthy culture.

But it can be done! And one of the primary tasks of the leader is to understand the current culture and then to shape the new one.

The top leader was not solely responsible for shaping the current culture, and he or she cannot change the culture alone. Leaders at every level of the organisation shape culture, so change begins with you!

Please reflect on your own life and leadership:

    • What have you been doing well? How have you already been positively nurturing a healthy culture?
    • What specific changes can you make to do even better?

    God Can Change Culture!

I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?

    Jeremiah 32:27

The infinite God who created the universe can change your culture. Let’s commit our organisations, ministries, churches and businesses to Him.

Please pray that God will help you to shape your organisational culture to be what He wants it to be!

Ah, Lord God! It is You who have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for You.

    Jeremiah 32:17
