How leaders shape culture – Part 2

Leaders constantly shape culture, intentionally or not; organisational culture is influenced by everything a leader does, says, allows, and prioritises.
Leaders shape culture through prayer: prayer is foundational for cultural change and vision, including intercession for wisdom, strategy, transformation, evaluation, and strategic thinking.
Leaders shape culture through their lives: leaders are observed and imitated, actions speak louder than words, and leaders embody and set the standard for organisational values (e.g. Jesus, Paul and Timothy).
Leaders shape culture through their work by focus and attention: what leaders care about and how they react emotionally communicates values.
Leaders shape culture through their work in crisis response, resource allocation, people management, and organisational design, revealing priorities and reinforcing behaviour.
Leaders shape culture through their work in physical environment: office layout, meeting arrangements, and systems communicate values.
Leaders shape culture through their words: communication must align with actions and include clear, passionate, credible messaging, reinforcement, affirmation, storytelling, and consistent public statements that reflect organisational values; intentionality in prayer, life, work, and words determines whether culture is healthy or unhealthy.
