Three Movements of Impact Evaluation
Intention
- Define the impact you want to have.
Components:
- Ideas of impact – what difference you aim to make.
- Indicators – how you’ll know change is happening.
- Principles of change – your theory of how impact occurs.
Inquiry
- Design ways to collect data on indicators.
- Use mixed methods: both quantitative (numbers) and qualitative (stories, reflections).
- Analyse the data to uncover insights.
Implication
- Don’t just gather data—apply it.
- Communication: who needs to hear the findings?
- Strategic response: how should the organisation adjust to improve future impact?
