Security in Christ and leadership

Healthy leadership flows from union with Christ and abiding security in Him, while abusive leadership is rooted in insecurity and the need to prove worth or importance.
In servant leadership, the mission and organisational purpose are central, whereas in abusive leadership the leader himself becomes the central issue.
Servant leaders serve others, rejoice in shared success, empower people, and seek the good of many, while abusive leaders use followers for selfish ambition and personal gain.
Abusive leaders are often domineering and narcissistic, demanding control, unquestioning loyalty, dependence, and promoting goals that reflect their own self-interests.
Such leaders exaggerate vision, ignore obstacles, manipulate information, create false control, and often lead organisations toward failure, bitterness, and disillusionment.
Abusive leadership can also show through rivalry, loyalty tests, control, and an inability to develop successors, while healthy leaders promote Christ, not themselves, and willingly share the spotlight.
